All in all: there aren't many places in Ohrid that are better (i had quite a few horrible experiences in this town), so if you want a okay view and a good steak please visit this place, but it really is just an 'not above average' restaurant and certainly not the hidden gem other TripAdvisors say. If you act all snooty, then walk like you talk or lose credibility. The waiter acted a bit like it was a very fancy restaurant, but he didn't have the skillset to provide the proper table etiquette to fulfill this promise: taking out our plates while we were still eating, being untidy while filling glasses, inserting plates the wrong way etc. We were the only guests and some of the tables were set long ago enough for spiders to cob webs between the glasses and the plates. The service wasn't much: the waiter didn't ask for drinks or refills, the music was too loud and didn't fit the occasion (noisy pop music, while easy listening would have added to the romantic setting.

Keep it simple guys! The pizza however was executed perfectly: Italian crust, fresh ingredients: simple, not too fat, not too salty. A skewer of grilled marinated veggies (and maybe some of the great tasting white Macedonian cheese, just thinking out loud) would have been much better.

The piece de resistance: 'grilled fruit skewer' was a misplaced element in this dish. The side dishes were simple and uninspired though: canned vegetables (macedoine) and dry sauted mushrooms. Villa Denarius is a typical small and family run hotel in Ohrid, with great personnel and service.

It offers great views of lake Ohrid, especially from the panoramic rooftop restaurant. While I prefer my steak a bit more raw, my wife thought it was perfect. Villa Denarius is located at the shores of lake Ohrid on the city quay and only five minutes away from the city cetnre and Old Town. As the reviews promised, the view from this fourth floor restaurant (around 20 seats) is nice. Got tired of the terrible burgers, greasy meatballs and sliders. Found this place through TripAdvisor, as I became desperate for some decent food in Ohrid.
